Hiking from the Hotel in the Allgäu – The Most Beautiful Tours Around the Prinz-Luitpold-Bad

Here are my personal favorite destinations – all reachable directly from the hotel:
1. Rotspitze – 2,034 meters of pure Allgäu energy
The Rotspitze is imposing, rugged, and proud. And it’s so close that you can see it right from your room. Anyone who climbs this striking summit is rewarded with a 360° view of the Allgäu Alps – and with a feeling you simply can’t buy.
➡️ Tip: The trail is challenging but absolutely worth it. Start directly behind the hotel, walk through the meadows, then follow the Jochstraße toward the Älpele, and continue from there to the summit.
Hiking time: about 4 hours uphill. Surefootedness required.
2. Iseler & Hirschberg – two classics with guaranteed views
The Iseler (1,876 m) is the sunny favorite among the local peaks. You can reach it directly via the Zipfelsalpe, or take a more leisurely route with a small detour through Oberjoch.
The Hirschberg (1,500 m), on the other hand, is quieter but no less beautiful. Especially in spring and autumn it has an almost meditative atmosphere, with wide views across the valley.
➡️ Tip: Both hikes can easily be done as circular routes – and at the end you can stroll back to the hotel along the Ostrach river.
3. Hirschbachtobel & Wildbachtobel – wild water and green paths
Sometimes you don’t need a summit – just a shady trail, the sound of a mountain stream, and a cool breeze. The two tobel gorges that run almost like hidden secret paths behind our hotel offer exactly that.
➡️ Tip: The Wildbachtobel is a narrow, playful trail with small bridges and moss-covered stones – perfect for warm days. The Hirschbachtobel is a bit wider and leads you deep into lush alpine greenery.
4. Along the Ostrach – hiking with the river by your side
The Ostrach flows through our valley like a quiet lifeline. The walking path along the river is ideal for the first or last day of your holiday: relaxed, scenic, and dotted with lovely places to stop and rest.
➡️ Tip: If you like, combine the walk with a detour to the small natural swimming pool or stop for coffee in Bad Oberdorf.
5. The Bear Trail to Hinterstein – wilderness with a story
Bears really did roam these mountains in the past. Today, information boards tell their story along one of the region’s most beautiful nature trails. The Bear Trail leads from Hinterstein through forests, meadows, and local history. It’s just as fascinating for children as it is for adults.
➡️ Tip: You can start directly from the hotel. The trail takes you along the Ostrach riverbank to Hinterstein. Return either on foot or comfortably by bus (bus stop near the hotel).
Conclusion
You don’t need a car, special equipment, or a GPS.
Just a little curiosity – and the desire to experience real nature.
Our hiking trails lead you not only through the mountains, but often a little closer to yourself.
If you have any questions about a tour – or simply want to know where the flowers are blooming most beautifully right now – I’m here. And sometimes I’ll even join you.
