SLEDDING FROM OBERJOCH TO HOTEL PRINZ-LUITPOLD-BAD

The procedure is very simple.
Option 1: For those who prefer less hiking
Ask at reception for the bus timetable to Oberjoch. Then leave the hotel in time (10 minutes should be enough) and walk across the parking lot up Andreas-Gross-Strasse toward Jochpass. Right at the intersection you will find the bus stop (Jubi DAV). Take the bus up to Oberjoch and get off at “Oberjoch Ort.”
ROUTE A
Walk a few meters back past the old gas station. Soon you will see a small path on the left side of the road. You can either start sledding there or walk a bit first. This path leads you to the old Joch road, which you follow downhill – shouting joyful “yahoo!” as you sled down into the valley. This route offers more sledding fun.
ROUTE B
Walk only a few meters back and turn left immediately (toward the ski rental Hosp, etc.). Continue straight along the edge of the ski slope. Soon you will see a small path on the right (before the children’s ski area). This path can partly be sledded and partly walked.
You will reach a point where the path continues downhill to the right and uphill to the Ochsenalpe on the left (about 10 minutes walking). However, it is currently closed.
After that you can sled the entire way down. After some time you will reach the old Joch road and from there continue along the same route as Route A. In terms of scenery, this is our favorite route.
Getting there
About 15 minutes. The best option is to take the public bus to Oberjoch (you can get the timetable online or from our reception).
Option 2: For hikers (1½ hours uphill)
Of course, instead of taking the bus you can also hike up the old Joch road and then fully enjoy the downhill sledding experience. The nicest alternative is to hike up to the Ochsenalpe, stop there for refreshments, and then race down the mountain on your sled. In theory, you can turn around and start sledding back down at any point.
For all options:
At the end of the road please be careful. It joins the busy Andreas-Gross-Strasse shortly before our parking lot – right before your wellness hotel in the Allgäu.
Our hotel guests can borrow sleds free of charge from the reception.
Please only park in the hotel parking lot if you are a hotel guest.
